Mixed use development, Dublin_2015

A-ZERO worked with Irish architects O’Donnell + Tuomey on a proposal for a new mixed use development North of the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. Comprising a phased development of residential and commercial blocks, the master plan was strongly informed by the environment both within the buildings and between them. The residential blocks are organised to the south of the site allowing ‘view corridors’ toward the river. A new pedestrian artery is created through the site, and solar access to a new public space along this artery is assured by the massing of the buildings to the south. Planted roofs across all the residential blocks provide an environmental filter with potential cooling and air quality benefits for the naturally ventilated commercial buildings to the north.
